The Gangotri Temple is built in the 18th century by General Amar Singh Thapa. After that Temple is reconstructed by the Jaipur dynasty. The Birthplace of holy River Ganges in Himalaya. This Temple is dedicated to maa Ganga. Gangotri Temple is one of the Char Dhams. This temple is located on the right bank of Bhagirathi. The King Bhagirath is worshiped of Lord Shiva and maa Ganges is started flowing on Lord Shiva. so, This river is also known as Bhagirathi.
